ABOUT US
Minnesota 8th District Quarter Horse Association has been in existence since 1961 when it became incorporated with the State of Minnesota. During this time we have grown and become involved in the horse industry, not only promoting the Quarter Horse Breed but all breeds of horses. We host a two day all breed show in June and our annual Quarter Horse show in July. In the earlier days of our existence, we had an 8th District Futurity. In the future, we may pursue this avenue again. Below is the 2007 operating board of the MN. 8th District QHA.
2008 OFFICERS
President: Al Ninteman
Al and his wife, Anita reside just south of Carlton. Al enjoys going out west on hunting trips and trail rides. He has been a member of Mn. 8th District for many years. Always active in the many activities of the club.
Secretary: (Not pictured) Diane Selin Diane and her husband Jerry reside in Esko. They take part in the trail rides and do some showing locally. This is the first year that Diane has been a member of the board. Carmen Calhoun
Treasurer: Marci Moreland
Marci and her husband, Gary, reside in Mahtowa. They raise quality quarter horses and stand two stallions at service. Marci is the Show Secretary for the open and AQHA shows, and the president of the Arrowhead Saddle Club Association. Gary and Marci operate an 82 acre farm where Gary takes in horses for training. They have been active in the promoting of the horse industry. They show their horses at about 20 shows per summer.

Wendee
Churchill
Wendee is the go getter of this organization. Her and her husband Larry live in Saginaw. Wendee has served on the board for about 10 years. A great asset in the office during the shows and works the announcers booth during the AQHA shows.
Janey Larson
Janey and her husband, Larry, live just outside of Cloquet. They take in horses for training and board, and you can always find a horse for sale here. Janey is actively involved in the NBHA and does very well as a competitor. Janey is another great asset to the office during the AQHA show.
Denise Swanstrom
Denise has been a member of 8th District for several years. She is our link to the local trail rides in the area. She and her husband Dexter live just outside of Cromwell. Denise enjoys trail riding and gaming at the local shows.
Dexter Swanstrom
Dexter is the Show Manager for our Quarter Horse Shows. He is also involved in trail riding with his wife Denise. He also has been a member of 8th District for several years.
Gary
Schmidt
A board member for several years and now our Futurity Rep. to the MSSA Futurity. Gary resides in Grasston and is involved with the APHA standing a paint Stallion. Gary is very involved with the Lead N' Lope Futurity promoting all breeds of horses and is an asset to the Rhino Arena. You'll always see him there to give you a hand.
Carmen and her husband, Chuck, and family reside in Barnum. Carmen is a great asset in the office during our shows. Her family raises paint horses just outside of Mahtowa. They have two children who attend Barnum High School.
